Artist Julia Holt completed her Fine Art Degree with First Class Honours at the University of Hertfordshire in Hatfield and works from her studio in Digswell, Hertfordshire where she enjoys painting within an artist community.
When working in her studio, Julia enjoys using fine quality paper as absorption plays a key part in the process which allows different mediums to interact, creating a surface that feels lively and energised.
Using a wet on wet method that enables the inks to form natural marks, she gives herself space to manipulate the mark or leave it as her initiative dictates. The production is both instant and gradual and the gradual movement can begin to manifest a myriad of possibilities from which Julia can work.
Julia is now continuing a new line of enquiry, allowing figures and shapes to emerge from and within the experience of mark making. Below is work in progress.
